Hot-rolled seamless steel pipe is a large category of seamless steel pipe, which is divided according to the production method. Hot rolling is relative to cold rolling, cold rolling is carried out rolling at room temperature, and hot rolling is carried out rolling at the crystallization temperature.
A seamless steel pipe is a circular pipe having a hollow section and no seams around it. The seamless steel pipe is made of carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel ingot or solid tube blank, and then is made by hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing
Seamless steel is stronger than welded pipes, making it more expensive because of the higher production cost. On the other hand, welded steel pipes are easier to manufacture due to the cheaper cost of production and raw material availability.
Performance and Usage. Seamless steel pipe has better pressure capacity, strength is higher than ERW welded steel pipe. So it is widely applied in high pressure equipment, and thermal, boiler industries. Generally the welding seam of the welded steel pipe is the weak point, the quality affect overall performance.
Slotted steel pipes and seamless steel pipes are divided according to the processing form. The seamed steel pipes are generally welded. The seamless steel pipes are cold drawn and hot-rolled. The carbon steel pipes are in terms of materials, and the galvanized pipes are welded pipes.

Application
ASTM Specification A106 covers seamless carbon steel nominal wall pipe for high-temperature service, suitable for bending, flanging and similar forming operations. NPS 1-1/2 and under may be either hot finished or cold drawn.
